I haven’t been getting out with my camera lately, so recently I went through almost all my pictures and selected the ones I liked the most. These are the ones that I see myself wanting to fix or alter as needed, and print to keep. These are two pictures I took in Scotland.
The Lagavulin picture is just an “I’ve been there!” shot.

This other is the one I really like as it is so reminiscent of the look and feel of Scotland. What’s it do for you? Thoughts on how it might be improved?

Nice shot! I do like the composition, with the road leading you out to parts unknown, and the slightly misty atmosphere really does evoke Scotland! Dehazing or increasing contrast to bring out more detail would spoil the atmosphere. And I don’t know what time of day this was, but the lack of traffic seems atypical! Peaceful but not my experience of Scotland!
The Tea Room sign is a challenge. I find it’s presence distracting to the composition, but it does provide some back story in telling us something about the village, which I like. On balance, though, I think I’d have left it out and taken a second shot to show more of the shop itself; maybe you did that too! As it is, it seems that the photo is trying to tell two stories at once.
A peaty scotch to help you weather the wind off the moors! I agree with Jon about loosing the Tea Room sign. Any maybe crop the right 25% to focus on the buildings and only part of the road??? Super pictures.
